Some weeks ago I found a good price on some autumn-themed decor, and decided to purchase a few small items for myself and also for my daughters. One thing I picked up for each of us was the little Thanksgiving sign above. I chose to hang my sign from a kitchen cabinet knob.
I have found this little sign to be an excellent reminder that every moment of every day is a time to give thanks. When we are with our family out West, our son-in-law will frequently thank God for another day of life. And it's true. Our very breath is a gift from God and we should be sure to thank Him for it.
The Bible says,
"I will bless the LORD at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth." (Psalm 34:1)
"Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
(Ephesians 5:20)
Do you ever find yourself sighing as you go about your work on a particularly difficult day? I must admit that I sometimes do -- and I've come to recognize my sighing as an inaudible complaint about the circumstances God has me in. I need to remember that God is in control of my circumstances, and that His purposes for my life are good purposes, from the hand of a God who is always good, who loves me, and who makes no mistakes.
Lately, my eye has turned to this little sign -- "A time to give thanks" and I've been reminded that I'm to give thanks even when circumstances are less than ideal.
"In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
(1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Another little sign, which I picked up at The Wilds of New England, is an equally good reminder.
"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name."
(Psalm 100:4)
I just clicked onto this little post from your sidebar, and yes, it is good to "Remember to Give Thanks" in all things, all circumstances...even when we don't FEEL like giving thanks. God will bless us in that moment that we pause to thank Him and give Him praise...and we often see our burden lifted and our hearts are lightened in a sense of peace that God knows our thoughts and needs and desires, and He is listening...We are so blessed to be His children! Have a blessed and beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteI am glad this post was a blessing to you, Pamela! It's an older one for sure but still so true. The older I grow in the Lord, the more I am reminded that in any situation there is always something to be thankful for. If we can find nothing else, we can always praise Him for the staggering fact that He is IN the difficulty with us!
