Well, this has been a different day. Different, but good.
Mr. T has been off from his regular work for a few days (too wet in the woods) and has instead been doing some maintenance and repairs on the equipment he works with. He and the mechanic have been doing some work on the machine he runs -- and that necessitated a trip to another area of our state. He would take some cylinders to this facility to have work done on them, then would pick them up a couple of hours later, and finally return back to the job site to meet up with the mechanic to reinstall them. We saw this as a good opportunity for some time together, so I went along for the ride.
We left at 6 a.m. and ended up here:
Known in the vernacular as simply "Cat" |
And, oh happy day, we were only about ten minutes away from this:
And it was by now close to 8 a.m. So of course we had to have breakfast. Wouldn't you?
I had the Sunrise Sampler, always one of my favorites ... though breakfast choices at Cracker Barrel are always difficult.
Mr. T chose a seasonal special, the White Chocolate 'n' Fresh Berry French Toast. It also came with eggs and a breakfast meat --- he chose turkey sausage.

And a very limited view of the interior of the welcome center:
We came home, Mr. T headed off to the woods with his cylinders and I headed to the computer to finish up a devotional for our ladies' Christmas fellowship at church tomorrow and then to the kitchen to bake a cranberry coffeecake for the same event.
A full but most enjoyable day!
Hurrah...you got to eat at Cracker Barrel. We even had a fire burning at our Cracker Barrel yesterday!!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was so much fun! 😊 I especially enjoy visiting Cracker Barrel around Christmas time when there are such lovely things in the country store.
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you and your friends could enjoy a fire in the fireplace at your local Cracker Barrel! It adds so much to the experience.
Oh, yes, I would go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I like days like this that are unexpected and fun. Love that autumn scene painted on the window. Wish that I could see their Christmas window for I am sure that whoever the artist is will do one.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Vee. That is one thing about working in the forest industry -- one never knows when woods conditions will dictate an unexpected day off, or when an equipment breakdown will necessitate a run for parts or service. So quite often we get surprised and can take a day, or part of the day, like this.
DeleteIf I should happen to get by the visitor center during Christmas or ski season, I will try and get a picture of the windows for you. We often visit a diner that is owned by the same company, and they will have something special on their windows too. If I can keep my wits about me, I will get a picture!
Sounds like you had a relaxing day with the hubs. That is always a good thing. Mine loves it when I travel along with him.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Sandy, it is always a good thing. I have "time to relax" for the two of us on my prayer list every single day. It's always neat when God provides a time like this.
DeleteAlthough I am not an equipment nut, I find my hubby's work interesting and don't mind jaunts to places like this ... especially when breakfast out can also be involved!
Oh yes!!! Love the Cracker! Been eating there for years!! Love the goodies and just the down home feeling !food is great! Love the biscuits !!
ReplyDeleteWe have just the one Cracker Barrel in our state, Cindy. It's a good distance away, so we don't often get there. We love it when we do!😊
DeleteHi Mrs. T. I love finding other New England bloggers! I used to be a server at that Cracker Barrel! Looking forward to reading through your blog.
ReplyDeleteGloria
Hi Gloria!!
ReplyDeleteSo interesting that you used to be a server at the very same Cracker Barrel! It's a small world!
Hope you enjoy the blog ... I was glancing at your post where you mentioned the kinds of blogs you enjoy, and I think you will feel right at home here!
I don't usually manage to post every day, but the archives are full of things that you might find interesting. Enjoy!
