Friday five for July 12

I'm not sure how the week got away from me, but it seriously did!  Let's see if I can search my memory (and my "Best of My Days" calendar) for five blessings from the week:

1.  A lovely phone chat with my friend Jennifer on Friday.  I was so blessed that this busy young mom carved out time to call and catch up with me.

2.   Getting out to walk at 6 a.m. several times this week.  It feels really good to be out there while it's still relatively cool -- and even better to have the rest of the day ahead of us when we return.

3.  Lots of good quality time spent on my Sunday School lesson preparation last Saturday.  I tend to work several weeks ahead, and it felt great to have gotten a lot of good work accomplished.

4.  A great day at the beach with my daughter, grandkids, sister-in-law and friends on Wednesday.  There's often a breeze at the lake when there isn't one elsewhere, and this proved to be the case again.

5.  Time spent planning and scheduling posts for Christmas in July at my Christmas blog, Mrs. T's Christmas kitchen.  Link is in sidebar if you'd like to visit.

Happy weekend, everyone!

  1. Hello!
Your walks sounds lovely and good for you to get our daily. :-)
Elizabeth George is such a great Author and the Bible study sounds wonderful.
Isn't it wonderful that we can study the Word of God and grow in our walk with the Lord.

    Have a beautiful day~

    1. Good morning, Debbie!

Yes, it has been really good to get out early each day. It rained yesterday so we didn't go, but other than that we've been managing most days this summer.

I do love Elizabeth George's studies. I so appreciate that they are clear teaching from God's Word and that she interjects very little of her own opinion.

Christian growth and studying God's Word -- yes, both are blessings that I do not take lightly! So thankful.

  3. Thanks for turning me onto Elizabeth George a while back. I love love her books. I have been trying to get up and stay with my walks early in the morning too. I feel better when I get on up and do them like that. That is such a pretty table runner I spy in those pictures. I have been thinking I would do some little projects like that soon. A little crafting is good for the soul.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    1. Oh, Sandy, I am so happy to hear that you've been so blessed by Elizabeth George's books. They have helped me to grow so much. So thankful they are doing the same for you!

I do like walking at 6 am but it really does derail my quiet time. I just have to be creative and work around it. I still get the time in, but it's not quite like starting the day in God's Word. I know it's only for a season -- when fall comes it will be too dark to walk at 6 am.

I love that table runner too ... I'm sure you could tell it is made with vintage hankies. I made three of them, two for gifts, quite a few year ago. You are so right that a little crafting is good for the soul. It's literally painful to me when I can't do a bit of creating daily -- but many days I just don't have time.

Thanks for your sweet visit here!

    1. Yes, walk early before it gets too hot! I just don't do well with heat and humidity and neither does my walking buddy, so we are going out at 6 am these days.
