A Valentine-y hutch shelf, just simple with the same old ironstone and silver plus a card by Mrs. Smith and a plate of "cookies" to make it more festive. |
Today I'll show just a few photos (well, maybe more than a few) of my simple decorating for Valentine's Day. Even though it's a day longer this year, February is still a short month and so this decor will stay up for the month.

A closer (though blurry) look at the felt heart made by my friend J. |

My granddaughter and I made these heart-trimmed book page banners a few years ago; there's one for each of the three dining room windows. |
|
I made this "Love" banner many years ago and it's only paper but is still holding up. Don't mind the clutter in the corner cupboard shelf behind it! |

A keepsake from years ago. My hubby and I were off on a nursing home ministry, something we did weekly and had to skip supper to do. Our youngest daughter, a high school student at the time, fixed a Valentine supper for us to come back to! |
|
A tag I made a few years back to commemorate the same daughter's skating afternoon with her grampa (who was 75 at the time!) |

Reverse side of the tag. I'd hoped to make a tag for every month as I was so enjoying it, but life has become so busy! |
Hope you've enjoyed these simple ideas. I'm linking up today with Sandi's

I have not decorated too much for Valentine's Day but I do plan to go ahead and get out the Easter Decor on March 1st. I am ready for the spring colors!! I know you all have quite a while to go before it gets warm there. Crocuses are blooming here and daffodils are up but will not bloom for several weeks.
ReplyDeleteCrocuses are blooming in Alabama!? Wow, how pretty that must be. Enjoy them! We had some warm sunny weather last week and I noticed that the sheltered spot where my dad's spring bulbs are planted was free of snow. I had an idea the daffodils might be up soon -- but now our weather (logically enough) is back to more seasonal snow and cold.
DeleteDear Mrs. T:
ReplyDeleteThat invitation was so sweet and that your daughter did all that for you for dinner. I love all these decorations. The felt cookies would sure be a tease! So glad you shared.
Wasn't that sweet of her, Bernideen? She is now married, with six children of her own. And she is still a very thoughtful and sweet person -- a great blessing in my life.
DeleteThe felt cookies were fun to make. I have made loads of felt food for my grandkids over the years, but kept those Valentine cookies for myself. They are much prettier with a pale pink icing, but I didn't have any pale pink felt at the time I made those.
Hello Mrs. T,
ReplyDeleteI have not decorated for Valentine's day this year because of all the painting we have been doing. I have enjoyed looking at yours. What a special daughter you have to make a Valentine's meal for her ministering parents! Lots of lovely memories have been made in your household. Thank you for sharing with us.
Blessings,
Sandi
You are right, Sandi. Lots of lovely memories have been made over the years. That was indeed such a sweet thing for our then teenage daughter to do. It was such a treat to come back to!
DeleteWhat clutter? I don't see any! Cute and meaningful Valentine decor. I particularly like the banners and the tag with the "cold hands~warm heart" sentiment.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the things, Vee. I had fun making that tag, a little foray into papercrafting. I don't have any of the "necessary" equipment, just some scrapbook papers, stickers and string and such -- and imagination!
DeleteMy granddaughter Mackenzie (now 12) and I made those banners a few years back as an after-school project. We had a great time!
You don't see clutter? Trust me, it is there.
Mrs.T! Awe!!!!! Warm my heart!!! That made my day! I really love how happy your hutch is with different holiday decor. Simply versatile and lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mrs. Smith. I love my hutch too. I have so much fun decorating it for the seasons. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the Valentine decor!
DeleteLove all your wonderful decorations. How happy I was to see your Tasha Tudor print! Happy Valentine's!
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Lady Linda, and happy Valentine's to you as well. I love Tasha Tudor's art and have those calendar pages, a few vintage Christmas cards and some of her books. I'm glad it made you happy to see the February print.
DeleteThank you for sharing your lovely Valentine decor, Mrs. Tee! Happy Heart Month!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Margie, and the same to you!! Thanks for stopping by my kitchen table.
DeleteI have loved seeing all your Valentines Decor. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are most welcome, Beth. I am so glad you enjoyed seeing my Valentine decor. Please come and visit again anytime ... there's lots in the archives.
DeleteI enjoyed seeing all your Valentine decor. I do want to tell you that those felt cookies look good enough to eat!!!
ReplyDeleteAren't those cookies fun, Kitty? As I mentioned to Bernideen above, I have made tons of felt food for the grandkids over the years. These cookies are much more realistic with pale pink icing, but I used what I had! I don't think they have fooled anyone yet, though.
DeleteStop by and visit anytime ... always a warm welcome at my kitchen table!
Oh my word - you've really outdone yourself with your pretty and perfect Valentine's decor!
ReplyDeleteI love that little felt friend heart- and your banners are awesome!
Thanks so much for your visit and sweet comments. Have a wonderful week full of love!
♥♥♥
Oh, thank you, Michele! My dear friend J. made the felt friend heart for me and sent it in a little Valentines care package one year.
DeleteAs I mentioned above, I made those heart book page banners with my granddaughter one year. The pages are from the classic book "The Little Prince". The book had gotten partially destroyed and so this was a perfect use for some of the remaining pages.
You have a wonderful Valentines week as well. Stop by and visit anytime!
Well, I think it is all just delightful! Love those darling felt cookies.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Thank you, Jann, for those kind words! Yes, felt food always brings a smile. It's fun to make, fun for kids to play with and fun to display.
DeleteStop by and visit my kitchen table anytime!
Love the valentine's on the ribbon board and your banners. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed seeing them, Denise! Both the banners and the ribbon board are very easy to make -- and I use the ribbon board for every season and holiday other than Christmas. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteLove your darling Valentine decor. Thanks for sharing it on SYC. Jo
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Jo, and thanks for hosting. Glad you enjoyed seeing my simple Valentine decor. I have fun with it.
DeleteYou are such pretty Valentine decorations going on! So many great vignettes. Love the tags too. Sometimes I wish Valentine's wouldn't end because it helps us to get through winter.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy! I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the Valentine's decor and tags. I have only dabbled in paper crafting. Wish I had time to do more of it.
DeleteI agree completely, Valentine's does help us get through winter. I find that in March, since it is still pretty much winter here in New Hampshire, I tend to go to maple sugaring decor -- not always easy to find, but more seasonal than spring decor.
I enjoy seeing what's going on in your kitchen nook through the seasons, too. Thanks for sharing!
Everything looks so pretty at your house.
ReplyDeleteI took all of my hearts down today because I began decorating for Valentine's Day in January.
Thanks for Sharing Your Cup!
Glad you enjoyed seeing it, Carol! I did winter decorating in January, and now the hearts will stay up for February. March, I'll probably decorate with maple-sugaring themed items and a few Irish things.
