December 5

A vintage card from my collection; the snip of red ribbon is real!
It's been one of those crazy, busy days with just too much going on, it seems.  Yet I do know that God orders our days and that He promises to give us strength in just the right measure for each day.

For today's post I thought I would just quickly share a few pages from my small collection of Christmas carol books.  These little books -- leaflets, really -- were often distributed by insurance companies, etc. to their customers.  When I went Christmas caroling with a youth group in my early teens, we all used these sorts of books -- only by then they were not as colorful or as lavishly illustrated.  These books are older and much more beautiful.  I believe I shared pictures of these on my Christmas blog but have not done so here previously.

One of the covers; I think this one is my favorite

Hope you have enjoyed this look at a few of the Christmas carol book pages!

  1. I've never seen Christmas carol books like these! They'd be so fun to sing from. The pictures are beautiful!

  2. Aren't they just lovely? I am so blessed to have been given these. Years ago when I taught art and did a lot of projects with kids, several people gave me boxes of old Christmas cards. These lovely old carol books were mixed in with them. I will have to look and see if I can find a copyright or other date. The ones I remember from my own childhood were basic black & white with a touch of red on the cover.
