November goals

Aren't Gooseberry Patch calendars the best?  I purchase several each year for myself and for gifts!
And just like that, November arrives, ushering in the end of daylight saving time and reminding us there are only 54 days until Christmas.  Time for me to set some time for me to set some goals for the month:
*Meditate on a passage from God's Word each day.
* Memorize at least 4 Bible verses and review some older ones.
* Add 4 pages to my "What Do I Know About My God?" Scripture notebook
* Continue study for Sunday School -- Following God With All Your Heart
* Continue to re-read Say Goodbye to Survival Mode; continue to journal and implement what I learn
* Exercise or walk at least 20 times.
* Get to bed by 9:45 pm each night.
* Limit sugar and red meat.
* Drink enough water each day.
* Keep up with Kelly's missions in homemaking zones of the week.
* Spend some serious time decluttering closets
* Post in my Christmas blog as often as possible
* Post in this blog as often as possible
* Continue working on several UFO craft projects
* Create gift for November birthday
* Create and send belated gifts for a September birthday
* Get serious about crafting Christmas gifts
* Apply wall decals to our freshly painted bathroom wall
* Reduce grocery bill by $5 per week consistently
* Spend several hours updating my A-store.
* Write at least 4 encouraging notes to friends and family
* Help and encourage my local daughter as I'm able
* Clean church and set up for potluck meal
*  Continue trying to help and encourage my elderly dad
* Sort out and declutter my dad's basement
* Continue transferring important items to new computer
* Have at least two couples over for supper
* Make a photo book
* Make a photo magnet
* Plan meals with a greater emphasis on healthy eating
* Decorate for Thanksgiving
* Plan and enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner

  1. I am surprised by the "reduce grocery budget by $5 a week"...this is the month that I want to budget extra grocery money because so many necessary things go on sale. I tend to stock up the pantry in November and December, but especially in November. You have had a great month! Wish that I could say the same. Happy November!

  2. You are right, Vee! I guess I left that "reduce grocery bill" goal in there because I'm continually aiming at doing that overall. I am hoping (perhaps foolishly) that the overall bill will come down even if I do buy some extra items for baking, etc. since I am hopefully spending less and less each week. It has taken some time to see it, but I am beginning to find that buying less meat and cheese and more fruits, veggies, and grains is showing up ever so incrementally on the grocery bill. It can all be a bit misleading to me since we buy my dad's groceries too and just keep a running total of what he owes us. Then we get a check for that every few months. It's a lot easier than trying to check out with two grocery orders every week. But it does make the register tape long and rather scary!

    October HAS been a good month. Busy, and with many challenges, but one in which, amazingly, many things still got accomplished. Sorry that yours has not been as good. Happy November to you also!!!

  3. Quite a lot of goals! I tend to keep a running list on the note section of my iPhone with a mental list for everyday stuff, and occasionally a written list if there are a lot of things that need to be done within a certain time frame. But I don't often get to my running list because of the others.

  4. Greetings, Barbara! Yes, it is an ambitious list. I plan general goals at the beginning of a new year and then set monthly goals that will help me to achieve my goals for the year. As you see, I don't always accomplish everything on my list every month. But I'm a strong believer in the old adage that if we aim at nothing, we'll hit it every time. So I aim at something; often, too many things. I make a daily time schedule to try and fit necessary tasks into the most efficient time frame, and I also keep a running list as you do. Like you, my life is so busy that often I don't get to cross much of the running list. I was encouraged this morning, though, to cross a few things off.
