Butterfinger Blonde Brownies

I was sure I had already posted about this recipe, but apparently not ... just mentioned I had taken them to a recent church potluck.  It's Butterfinger Blonde Brownies from Jocelyn at Inside BruCrew Life.  Jocelyn is a reliable go-to source if you want to bake something that people will love.

I've made these several times now and they always go over well.  I use a couple of secrets to make them just a bit easier.

1) Instead of crushing up Butterfinger® bars, I use about half a bag of the crushed Butterfingers that are sold for baking.  You will find these near the chocolate chips and other baking chips at the grocery store.

2) Instead of making a chocolate glaze for the top, I just sprinkle the chocolate chips called for over the top of the brownies when they come out of the oven.  Let set 5 to 10 minutes or so, and you can then spread the melted chocolate over the top to form a glaze.  This works very well!  Saves a few calories too, since you are not using the cream the glaze calls for.

If you need a potluck dessert people are sure to enjoy, you'll want to bake up a pan of these blonde brownies.  Happy baking!

  1. Oh, thank you for the recipe AND the handy hints! Our mother will be going into a nursing home soon and I am collecting recipes and ideas of things I can bake for the staff there. Bet anyone would love these! I'll get to keep a few and enjoy them without having a container full of temptation sitting on my counter!

    1. Wonderful idea, Linda! I have taken cookies and bars to the staff at the nursing home, hospital, and ER at various times and they are always well received. At Christmas time I like to take a couple of large (disposable) trays full of Christmas cookies. Another hint I have for that is to make sure your trays or containers are nothing special to you ... you can get pretty ones at the dollar store .. because you don't want them to have to think about returning your container.

  2. Oh you're killing me here! Those sound just amazing. I don't have too many reasons to bake them up, but I may have to come up with something. Good tips, too. Thanks!

    1. I'm sure you can think of a reason, Vee! Something special for your grandsons while their mom is too busy recovering and moving to think about baking? A housewarming treat for their family when they get moved in?

Have fun with the recipe. And whenever you are in the mood to bake something special, Jocelyn's site will give plenty of inspiration. She has a wonderful and easy to navigate recipe index.
