The All-American Total Solar Eclipse


I found the above postcard when we visited Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho a couple of weeks ago.  The postcards for the park were all gone, but they had these and I liked their retro look.  Although Craters of the Moon is just outside the path of totality, nearby Arco, Idaho (where my hubby and I spent a night while the others camped) will have totality for a minute or two.

Enjoy the eclipse wherever you may be, but do make sure you are viewing it safely.

    It just came through here...supposed to be 94% but it was disappointing. It only got a little dim. :(

      That's all it seemed to do here, Debby. But my daughter and grandkids looked at it through a welding helmet and they also made one of those pinpoint projectors, and said it was neat. If she blogs about it I will send you the link.

    It just looked like a cloudy day for about three minutes here...but it was amazing to see the places where totality existed. An amazing day.

      I should have watched it on TV or online. Just listened to a bit of the coverage on the radio from Oregon and Idaho when it was in totality there.

    That is a cool postcard. My sister and I were out driving during that time...a brief time of something like an impending storm coming. We did not look not having the right gear.

      Isn't that such a nifty postcard, Vee? I didn't have the right gear either, and didn't wish to do anything risky as far as my sight is concerned.

    I was sitting on our back deck, the temperature changed a few degrees cooler and around 11:40 my husband phoned me and told me to look at the shadows on the driveway in the shade and it was amazing! Hundreds of eclipse crescent shadows.
    My daughter Stephanie said she wore her husband's welding helmet,I thought that was a smart thing to do and here your daughter did as well. :-)
    It was such a glorious day and all to the glory of God.

      That is really neat that you could see the hundreds of eclipse crescent shadows! I should have made more of an effort to see something eclipse related. Thanks for sharing your experience with me!
