A favorite autumn tag

My friend J. is the one who introduced me to tag making.  I still have done very little of it compared to her own output, but I have been inspired by her work many times and  have made a few tags of my own.  The photo above is a scan of a tag which J. made for me some years ago.  Isn't it beautiful?

The photo above is one that we took at Lake Tarleton State Park, an undeveloped state park area in New Hampshire.  J. used this photo to make her tag, and embellished it with some printed-out scans I had done of leaves, painstakingly cutting out each leaf so that they look completely real.  She made the moose using a paper punch, punching them out of another print of the photo, if I remember right.  She added a wonderful quote from Elizabeth George concerning God's peace, and added a label at left that says simply, PEACE.  The brown brads and ribbon complete the look.

This tag is right above my dresser where I see it when getting ready for each day.  It's always such a blessing.  I'm sure you can see why this tag is such an autumn (and year-round) favorite of mine!

  1. What a great idea...I may have to "steal" it Mrs T!! And after seeing your fall mugs, it reminded me that I have some in a cupboard that I forgot to get out!!

Beautiful little object to see each day. I wish I had patience for paper cutting etc. It looks like such fun and there are so many options. Alas, I never was good with the creativity needed for such objects.

Church last night was so encouraging. I was so tired, but I have learned when I'm like that and am tempted to stay home, that's when I need to be there the most.

God Bless you today, Mrs. T

  3. Hello ladies!

Arlene, you are more than welcome to "steal" the idea! I know my friend J. would say the same. I love making and displaying tags because they are small bits of meaningful art that can be hung and displayed virtually anywhere.

Ruth -- isn't it indeed such a beautiful thing to see each day? The quote encourages me every time. I don't have any real paper cutting tools myself, just scissors and a few punches, and have made only a dozen tags or so. My friend J. has a Cuttlebug and many punches. She has done amazing things with tags.

I would not say you are not good with creativity, because you are one of the most creative people I know! I have been on the receiving end of your creative efforts countless times and appreciate you so much!

Yes, church was encouraging last night. I seldom give myself the option of staying home (unless I'm really sick) because I definitely need to be there and need the fellowship, as I know you do too. ("And so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.")
