Sew Crafty Friday for August 31

I haven’t really accomplished a lot this week, craft-wise. But during a day at the beach on Tuesday, I managed to finish 2 projects.

First, a dishcloth, in the “Daisy Ombre” color. I really like this; it is a nice restful color and would work with a lot of people’s kitchens. In the same photo, my first flour-sack towel in the “Fine Chinaware” set. Isn’t it a pretty design? I’m so pleased with how it turned out.

Next, I managed to finish off the apron pocket I embroidered last week and get it sewed onto the side piece of the apron. I think it’s looking quite nice! I’ve got most of the second pocket embroidered, but the hard part (the flower petals) is still to come.

I’ve also started another crocheted snowflake which I think will be quite pretty and is fairly easy -- I may well make the last 2 snowflakes from that pattern also.

And I’ve also started yet another dishcloth -- those things are addictive! -- in the “Potpourri” color.

And I’ve begun the first of 2 personalized cookbooks, but don’t really have much to show for that yet. Maybe next week!

And that about does it for this week’s crafting...

Oh, and if you’ve done any crafting this week -- even if it’s just a work in progress so far, I encourage you to drop in at Shereen’s blog and share your work with the rest of us. It really is fun and a great encouragement to share our crafts and ideas with others.

  2. Hi Joann,

Thanks for your nice comments and for stopping by again! I love these "Fine Chinaware" transfers... they are my favorites out of all the day-of-the-week towels I've done so far. Your own dishtowels are coming out so beautifully... I see that your embroidery skills are far less rusty than mine! I especially noticed how nice your chain stitching comes out. I haven't done any of that on any of my towels so far.

I love the daisy dishcloth too... bought another ball of that color this week so I can make another.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    God bless,
    Mrs.T

  3. Both your crafts are so pretty this week! I love ombre for crochet. It's just so much fun. That embroidered towel is beautiful...I haven't done embroidery in many years. You remind me of a day my mother took my sister and I to the five and ten (and your really could get five and ten cent things back then...around 1965) to pick up some little embroidery kits. I can only vaguely remember my mother teaching me the stitches (and it's funny, because I can't think of another time she every embroidered), but it's a fond memory all the same!

  4. Thanks, Mom2fur!

I appreciate your stopping by and your nice comments.

I'm glad that seeing the embroidery triggered such a sweet memory for you. I hadn't embroidered for quite a few years, either, and then one day I found that pattern for the apron with embroidered pockets. (I haven't yet made that apron with the embroidery pattern that came with it (a sunbonnet girl) -- I have done flowers, Christmas ornaments, cherries, and this time, teapots, on the pockets!

And doing embroidery again was so much fun, I started doing the flour-sack towels.

I stopped by your blog and enjoyed the tutorial on making a tote bag with the fat quarters. Very nice -- I may well try it some time. I was in a hurry though so didn't take time to comment.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    God bless,
    Mrs.T
