I've done just a small amount of Valentine decorating in the past week, but it is enough, I think. I recently read an inspiring post on decorating for Valentine's Day that encouraged me to use what I have to make home special with Valentine decor. So that is what I've done.
At the top of the post you can see that I've just added or switched out a few things on the bottom shelf of my hutch. I've left the rest of the hutch the same as when I decorated it for winter. I don't have a good photo of that, but the top shelf looks somewhat as it did here.
My friend J. also made the crocheted coaster under the red Maxwell House mug.
I also added a heart-shaped Altoids tin and a vase from a long-ago Valentine bouquet.
The only other Valentine touches I added to my decorating were these Valentine banners I made a few years back with my granddaughter; one over each dining room window.
And then this framed printable in the front hallway.
I would ordinarily have my Valentine ribbon board up there, too, but I am enjoying the winter-themed one too much to take it down and replace it with the Valentine one.
Going the simple route this year!
I have a few things scattered around. Easter is so late this year that I guess I will decorate for St Patrick's day a bit in the meantime. Guess I better hit the Dollar Tree.
ReplyDelete"Scattered around" describes my Valentine decor too, Arlene! I had not even checked the calendar to see when Easter is ...!
DeleteI usually do a ribbon board for St. Patrick's Day, with some green and white on my hutch, and I usually also have one shelf with a maple sugaring theme, since March is usually sugaring season.
It looks great! I'm still taking down Christmas because I had to go out of town to see my dad and just haven't been motivated since I got home. I do love using banners.....
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debby! I use banners a lot. All of the ones I have are banners that I have made. Lots of fun. I love playing with paper, scissors and glue. Very therapeutic!
DeleteI love your little shelf and that banner. I keep thinking I am going to do a banner for Valentine's and Easter. Got to get on it.
ReplyDeleteI saw your sweet comment on Arlene's blog about praying for Mom. Thanks so much. We are home and she if doing well. I posted this afternoon about it.
Thanks so much, Sandy. I will head over to your blog and check out the post. Glad your Mom is doing well!
ReplyDeleteMaking banners is so much fun! Here is one post I wrote about it: spring-themed book page banners. Hope you find time to make some. The ones I've made have been quick and easy.
So nice to visit your blog today. I especially like the banner across the window. I will have to try something similar! Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen! Please come and visit again anytime. I would love to have you!
DeleteThose banners are simple ... see my link in the comment just above if you are interested!
Sounds right. I have gone very simple indeed this year. Your hutch shelf looks festive and pretty. I like the banner as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comments, Vee. I don't have a lot of Valentine items, but a lot more than I am putting out this year. Just feel like keeping it simple.
DeleteLove your little collection of favorite red and Valentine themed pieces, it all looks great together, and helps to keep the mood festive :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Marilyn! I so enjoy seasonal decorating! Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed day!
DeleteMy dear friend, your Valentine's Day decorations are simply lovely! It's hard to believe Valentine's Day is next week! The month of February is flying by.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you!

DeleteHugs to you as well, my friend!
