Two quick public service announcements

1)  Just really quick, I know that some of you enjoy visiting over at my Christmas blog, so I wanted to remind you that Christmas in July is going on over there all month.  Link is in the sidebar.

2) From now through July 24, there's a Christmas in July sale over at my Etsy shop, A New Hampshire attic.  Link to that is also in the sidebar.  All listings in the Vintage Christmas category are 25% off through the 24th of July, so head on over and browse.  I'm hoping to add a few more items to that category in the coming week.

Sweet little vintage Christmas card

This little card is a recent find that will be going in my Etsy shop.  The scene reminds me so much of the valley where I grew up.  Mountains all around, a big red barn, friendly folks -- well, I just love it.  The message inside the card is also refreshing and different:

Christmas again!

And may you have the real joys

that make the season mean so much;

-- warm remembrance, friendly greetings,

and hearty good cheer.

Isn't that beautiful?  And so much of it is just what I wish for my friends at Christmas.  How about you?

A sale at my Etsy shop

Just a quick public service announcement:  I'm running a sale at my Etsy shop, A New Hampshire Attic, now through the end of June.  Every single listing in the shop is 25% off through June 30.  I hope you'll go over and check it out.  If you enjoy all things vintage, I'm sure you'll have fun browsing through the shop!

Something new in my Etsy shop!

I'm trying something new in the way of Etsy shop listings in the Vintage Christmas category: small and simple ephemera packs for people to use in paper crafting and other projects.  This is proving to be a great way to sell some bits and pieces that otherwise might get lost in the shuffle.  So far I've put together four of these, and two have sold.

The first ephemera pack I put together was a classic Christmas theme with mostly red, green, white and gold components.  I'm including unused cards, used cards, card fronts, vintage tags and stickers, and more.  I'm adding a vintagey Christmas photo card into each pack too.  I'm wrapping up each assortment in a strip of vintage, or vintage-look, wrapping paper.

I'll show you the finished four packs and a few of the items for each one.  The photo for the first pack shows nearly everything it contains, but others do not.

Next I got the idea to make a "Blue Christmas" pack.  Many Christmas cards have a blue theme, and I have always loved those, so ...

Next I assembled an ephemera pack in shades of green.

The most recent pack I've put together is items with a red, or red and white theme.

What do you think?  Which of these would be your favorite?  Do you like the idea of a real assortment of colors and designs in a paper ephemera pack?  Or would you prefer items of mostly one color?  Any ideas for other colors or Christmas themes I should feature?  (I've considered candles, Santas, bells, lanterns, snow scenes and more, but I'd be open to more ideas.)

End of the year sale at my Etsy shop!

Yes, now through December 31, 2019, selected listings are 20% off at my Etsy shop,  A New Hampshire Attic.  There are over 90 listings on sale, including things in the following categories: vintage Christmas, vintage gifting, vintage stationery, and paper ephemera.

If there's something you've been eyeing in one of those categories, you may want to take another look.   However, as always, no pressure at all to do anything but window shop.  Looking through vintage things makes a lot of people happy, including me.  Happy browsing!

Back to school sale at my Etsy shop!

Yes, classes start Monday for the high schoolers in our town!  My granddaughter's volleyball team has already been practicing.  The university students are back in town.  It seems like a very quick summer indeed.

In honor of back to school, I'm having a little sale in my Etsy shop now through September 2: 20% off selected listings with a fall or back-to-school theme.  Most of the included listings will be sewing patterns -- sweet vintage school outfits like the one below.

There will be a few other items that fit the theme as well, so if you enjoy vintage things, head on over to A New Hampshire Attic and check out the sale.  It may bring back a sweet memory or two of your own school days!

Out of a vintage kitchen

Over the next week or two I'm hoping to feature some fun items that I've found in my sorting and sifting at my childhood home.  I thought I'd start with a few things from the kitchen.  Some of these are available in my Etsy shop, A New Hampshire Attic.  Some others were in the shop, but have sold.  And then there is at least one item pictured here that's not in the shop.  Enjoy the nostalgia ...

From a book called "Cake Mix Miracles"
Kitchen herbs are fun!
Any self-respecting kitchen will have recipes clipped from flour bags.
These are rice paper guest towels.  Who would ever have thought?
From a gorgeous little food coloring booklet.  These are paintings, not photos!
A blotter that came in a box of cereal.
This booklet featuring Homer Laughlin Jubilee dinnerware went to a collector.
Even a family fitness plan!
The Joys of Jello Cookbook has had many incarnations.
This glorious time of year?  Oh yes, let's eat outdoors!
Canning from the victory garden
So there you have it!  Just a few fun memories from a vintage kitchen.  Stay tuned for posts featuring the vintage sewing room, the vintage stationery drawer and more!

Short post for the longest day

Just popping in with a little announcement.  I'm having a one-day sale at my Etsy shop, A New Hampshire Attic to celebrate the longest day of the year, June 21.  Selected listings will be 20% off for today only.  Note that this sale will not include items in the Vintage Christmas category.  I am planning a Christmas in July sale, so you will want to wait until July for deals on Christmas goodies.  Hope to see you at the sale!

Friday five for February fifteen

Wow, is that an alliterative title or what?

Somehow it is Friday again, and snowing like a bandstand (as we say in our family -- long story!) so I'm taking a few minutes to share five blessings from the week.

And no, those Valentine cookies aren't real.  I did use a cookie cutter to make them, though. Need to get back to making some felt food, as I still have grandkids young enough to be interested.  My Nevada daughter told me the other week that they had gotten out some of the felt food for the youngest one, but all of the kids ended up getting involved -- playing grocery store, restaurant, and more.

1.  Breakfast out with my hubby last Friday.  We went to a new-to-us place with a pretty limited breakfast menu, but thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere.  Wish I had thought to take some pictures.

2.  Finding time to blog about the Christmas cookie book I made with Shutterfly.  It's on my Christmas blog -- Mrs. T's Christmas Kitchen -- so do check it out if you've never visited.  I'm so tickled with this book, as it's a project I've been thinking about for awhile.  (Yep, those are felt Christmas cookies on the cover.  Recipe for those not included, though.) I have lots more photos of pages from the book in the post on my Christmas blog.

3.  Being able to get out and walk both Monday and Tuesday.  The weather hasn't been conducive since, but those days we had mostly bare roads to walk on and got in probably close to 8 miles.

4.  A fun day in the kitchen on Valentine's Day.  I have a friend with a Valentine birthday and really wanted to bake a few goodies for her.  Of course, Mr. T was delighted, as well!

There are marshmallows hiding under the frosting ...
 5.  A nice surprise in the mail yesterday when a handmade Christmas ornament I'd ordered from an Etsy shop arrived.  Check out this pretty ornament from Treasures with a Twist!  Check out the shop, too.  Marjorie has made many other gorgeous ornaments of the same type.  They are good quality and good value, too.  My scan does not begin to do it justice.
That's it for this week's Friday five ... Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Labor Day sale at my Etsy shop!

Just popping in to share that I'm having a Labor Day sale at my Etsy shop, A New Hampshire Attic.  The sale is running from today, August 30, through Monday, September 3.

I'm offering 15% off on selected items.  Because it's a Labor Day sale, the items I've chosen to feature are those that a person might work with: vintage sewing patterns and notions, vintage cookbooks, and maybe a few other items along the way.  I'll be adding more things to these categories in the shop throughout the sale.

As always, please do not feel at all obligated to purchase anything or even to go and look.  I'm letting my blog readers know about this only so that if one of these selected items interests you, you would be able to get it while the price is lower.

Now I am off to scan and list more items in the shop.  I hope you will all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Recent simple crafting

I do love making things, but life is too busy right now to do much of any crafting on a regular basis.  I have a number of UFOs to finish, and I want to try my hand at some cushion covers for the patio chairs.  Maybe next week ... possibly even Saturday.  We will see!

In the meantime, here are just a very few small projects I've completed lately:

Above, two more crocheted hot mats  -- from this pattern -- some have asked about it, so here's the link again -- Scalloped Potholder --in the Fruit Punch ombre.  I'm pretty much addicted to making these.  I love seeing how they turn out in the various colors of ombre and whatever accompanying colors I choose.

Then I completed a bit of sewing:

The doll t-shirts were some I found at a bargain several years ago.  I used fabric to coordinate with them to make this simple reversible wrap skirt.  You can find the free and easy pattern here: You Can Make This.  I chose fabrics that would work with both the blue and red t-shirts and my granddaughter liked the outfits very much.

Later, when I had a few minutes, I made a second skirt -- again, planned to go with both t-shirts for maximum versatility.  I'm pleased with how they came out!

And finally, some embroidery:
This is the same dish towel as at top.  I purchased the embroidery pattern from an Etsy shop called Lova Revolutionary.  The design is intended to be used in a hoop, but I thought it would look nice on a dish towel, so I used some dollar store dish towels from my stash.  The one I just completed has a red border, and the one  I finished last fall has a tan border.

The red one has been languishing around half finished, so I finished it up this summer.

Lastly, I've been making a few handmade mailing envelopes from old calendars.  These are to use in mailing certain sizes of vintage sewing patterns from my Etsy shop.
Still working on this project, but you can see a finished envelope above.  See the fold at the top?  That's the flap to fold down and seal.

There you have it, short and simple, but I am so pleased to have created a few projects lately!
