A fun summer find at Dollar Tree!

On Saturday we made a quick stop at Dollar Tree to pick up some items we needed to get for church -- cleaning supplies and paper goods.  While browsing the kitchenware aisle I came upon the nifty item pictured above.  These cute red-checked waxed basket liners are the type you might see in those classic red plastic baskets like they use at take-out places.

I could see myself using these in a number of ways, not just in the summer.  They could be useful at Christmas time as well, for wrapping breads or for lining boxes or baskets to hold kitchen gifts.

Dollar Tree sells the red plastic baskets too, and I think this would be a fun way to serve hot dogs or hamburgers from your backyard grill.  Lots of atmosphere!

As you can see, there are 15 sheets of red-and-white checked waxed paper in each package.  That's a deal in my book for only $1.  And a nice plus is the fact that this product is made in the USA!

  1. I LOVE these and have been wanting to get some myself. I just may be paying a visit to my Dollar Tree soon! They remind me of eating in one of those '60s burger diners! Perfect for the 4th of July! Hope yours is a fun one!

    1. That's just what they remind me of, Debby. I was so surprised to see them in the Dollar Tree. American made too -- just can't beat that.

Happy 4th of July to you as well!

  4. I just want to tell you that I bought some of these with the baskets just yesterday! I just love them. Also want to let you know about the lemonade. The sweetener used along with the normal high fructose corn syrup is Aspartame. It is quite tart so I would say the amounts would be minimal. Sweeteners don't bother me much. Since I don't have an email for you, I am answering you on your blog :)

  5. I'm glad that you bought some of these, Debby! As soon as I do some decluttering in my kitchen, I hope to go back and get some of the baskets. Yesterday I actually used one of the liners to line a plastic tray to put pieces of the S'mores Pizza on. The tray had a crack in it (and I planned on throwing it away after this use) so it needed some sort of liner. Red-checked liner to the rescue!

Thanks for letting me know about the lemonade. Aspartame does bother me, so I'm glad to know it's there.

I don't drink lemonade often anyway, but it's just such a refreshing drink. Guess I will stick to making my own and just using less sugar.
