A simple embroidery project for fall

No, I am not rushing the season by thinking ahead to fall. I'm finishing up a UFO (un-finished object) from last fall. While visiting our daughter out west last year, we visited a charming shop called The Two Olde Crows.

There were many sweet and simple framed embroideries here and there on the walls, shelves, etc. Many of these had fall themes and I found myself thinking how easy it would be to make some myself.

Later, at home, I happened upon an easy fall design on the DMC site. At the time, I printed out the design, tea-dyed some muslin, transferred the design to it, and bought a frame at the dollar store.

Last week I came upon both the frame and the design again and decided that I needed to finish up this project, that it would come to completion in only a few hours. And I was right. It took only a little while to do the embroidery -- all simple back stitch -- and just a few minutes to frame it.

I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out -- and even though the pumpkin design is out of season, the sentiment of thankfulness is always timely!

"Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
~ Ephesians 5:20

  1. Cute!! I am working on a pumpkin cross stitch right now. I have a Christmas UFO that I need to get to work on so I might get it done before the holidays! So many patterns..so little time!

  2. Thanks, Arlene! I am glad you like it, and will look forward to seeing your pumpkin cross stitch and your Christmas UFO. Somehow it seems to make me feel a little bit cooler to work on fall and winter projects now. I agree ... so many patterns, so little time. I've reached the conclusion that I will never live long enough to complete the crafts I'd like to, but I will keep on trying!

  3. Very nice. I went to Joann's with by 50% off coupon yesterday and was greeted with fall flowers and all fall decor. Yikes! It seems that summer has just begun.

I love the little embroidery project. It will look nice in your house too.

  4. Thanks, Mrs.D! I'm pleased with it too. Yes, it seems to me also as if summer has just begun -- but August is nearly here and before we know it the kids will be back in school. Summer has gone way too fast.
