Favorite Ingredients Friday for August 31

For today, I'm going to share a yummy, easy dessert recipe that always goes over exceedingly well at potlucks and family get-togethers. Here it is:

1 cup water
1 stick margarine
1 cup flour
4 eggs

2 3.25 ounce packages instant vanilla pudding
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 cups milk

8 ounces whipped topping
1 bottle fudge sauce

Bring water and margarine to a boil. Remove from heat. Add flour and beat vigorously. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Pour the dough into an ungreased jelly roll pan (10x15 inches) and bake at 400ยบ for 30 minutes. Remove to a wire rack and cool completely.

Combine pudding mix, cream cheese and milk. Mix until smooth and creamy; spread this filling over the cooled cake. Spread whipped topping over the filling. Drizzle with fudge sauce. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Yield: At least 12 servings

This very delicious dessert is a recipe I heard many years ago on a radio cooking show. It may be made well ahead and serves a bunch of people.

  3. Yummy! I can certainly understand why this would be a big hit! Chocolate!
God Bless and have a great weekend!

  4. Wow! This sounds absolutely fantastic! You know I'm going to have to try it (I'm printing it out to save). :)

Thanks, Mrs. T, for participating in my Favorite Ingredients Friday recipe exchange. I do appreciate it.

I hope to see you again next Friday!

  5. Hi ladies,

So nice to see you all here around my kitchen table! Hope you try this dessert and enjoy it. I've had the recipe for a long time, so it's not new, but it sure is a tried and true favorite with my family and friends.

    Have a great weekend!

    God bless,

  6. I've seen a recipe before for eclair cake, but it used graham crackers. This sounds like it is actually like an eclair. THanks!

  7. Hi Magi --

I have that other recipe too, the one with the graham crackers. And it is very tasty. But I like this one, with the eclair/cream puff kind of base, much better. It tastes much more like actual eclairs.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    God bless,
