Show & Tell Friday for October 2

My time is limited today, so my show & tell will be even more simple than usual. Yesterday I got to thinking about custard cups... how cute they are and how often I use them. I very seldom make custards, except as an occasional treat for my dad, because I really don't care for them myself. But I do use custard cups a lot -- for various steps in recipes, for microwaving an egg for myself, for a side dish of applesauce, etc. with a meal, for holding the au jus for French dip sandwiches, or for serving a small portion of something to a child.

I don't have a real custard cup collection, but maybe I should start one! I will show a few of my custard cups.

Fiesta ware custard cup (newer version) also on a vintage Fiesta saucer

You couldn't bake a custard in this cup, a vintage plastic one from the 1940s. My grandkids like their raisins in these.

The bottom of this cup has a bunch of grapes molded into it. Cute!

And here is my very favorite custard cup. I don't know how old this is. I bought it at a flea market in 1977.

I just love the scene on this cup, and the painted green top edge. I keep this one above my kitchen sink to hold my scrubbing sponge, so I can enjoy seeing it whenever I wash dishes.

After taking all these photos, I remembered some apple-shaped glass custard cups that I have, but that will have to wait for another day.

So there's my simple Show & Tell for today. To see what others have shared for Show & Tell Friday, head on over to My Romantic Home.

Happy Show & Tell Friday!

  1. OOH, I love the bottom one too! Very pretty painting scene.

  2. Now, I would call that a collection. They are all so different and I love that you use them for different things since you don't really make too much custard!

  3. Dear Mrs. T;

the custard cups are just lovely! I have them also but in milk glass.

I use them for a variety of things. Holding the kitchen sponge sounds like a good one too ;)

  4. What an idea for a collection. The last one is so dreamy :)

  5. What a nice show & tell! I love those custard cups. Stop by for a visit sometime!

  6. You have a nice collection. It's good to use them in other ways (other than custard). Thank you for sharing.

  7. Looks like you already have a good start on a collection. I will have to keep my eye out for these as they would be nice to have to hold various items through out the house. I like the idea someone had of holding a scrubber at the sink.

  8. What a great collection! The last one is my favorite! I love the little cottage on it! Thanks so much for joining in on my first Show and Tell!

  9. I just stumbled on your blog today! Love it. I will be back often!

  10. Hi everyone!

It is so nice to see you all here at my kitchen table! I hope that each and everyone one of you will come back soon and visit often. Thanks so much for all of your sweet and thoughtful comments about my custard cups.

Mandy, a special welcome to you! Isn't it fun when one stumbles across a new and enjoyable blog? I don't get all of the time I would like to post in my blog, but the archives are full and I hope you will check them out.

    God bless.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit my kitchen table! I love company here in my kitchen, so be sure to leave a comment so I'll know you've visited! I'll answer your questions and comments here on the blog unless you request otherwise.
