A few of my favorite winter things

It's a busy day and I'd really like to get some photos or scans of a few things to share today.  However, other matters must come ahead of blogging, so I will settle for a few winter items I already have photos of.  The frost patterns above are a winter favorite; however, now that we have more energy-efficient windows, they may be a thing of the past.  I will miss their wintry beauty, but not the extreme cold (and drafty rooms) that they represent!

So here goes with a very random assortment of winter favorites ...
This was my winter ribbon board one year.  It looks a little different every time.
As you can see!
A skate ornament I made from a pattern in a vintage magazine
Tea is always a good thing in winter...
Glittery house and tree from Gooseberry Patch, card by my friend J. and a vintage plastic reindeer
This adorable house was made by my friend Les.  Notice the little snowman and the glittery tree
A favorite pattern for a snowflake hot mat (made this one for my daughter Carrie)
Hey, I need to find that pattern and make more of these.  Red and white would be pretty, too.

Snowball lamp, snowmen baskets, a tag made by me
Some snowmen mug rugs made for a friend
Back side of the mug rugs -- I'm getting inspired now!
A winter stitchery
This embroidery (above)was someone else's UFO that I completed.  Now I need to finish it off.  Maybe a pillow?
A winter flag I made for my grandkids' fort
Glitter house under glass -- love it!
After Christmas buy at Marshalls one year.  It's fiber-optic!
a favorite shelf on the hutch one year
Card made by my friend J. (who also made the garland below!)
A favorite sign and a "January" garland at the back door.
My winter hutch in 2009
Hope you've enjoyed this look at some of my winter favorites.  I'm sharing these today at Vintage Charm.

    1. And to you, Stephanie! I'm happy you enjoyed this simple winter post.

My hubby built that tea holder and has made one for our Nevada daughter as well. It sure is easier than having tea boxes tumbling out of a cabinet!

  2. I did! Is that the tea holder that Mr. Across My Table made? Seems as if I remember... Love the crocheted snowflake hot mat, too.

    1. I am glad you enjoyed the post, Vee, random though it was! Yes, my hubby made that tea holder ("rustic, very rustic" is how he describes it. It sure serves the purpose well though. He copied one I'd seen in a Bigelow or Celestial Seasonings catalog (I forget which) years ago.

I need to dig out that pattern and make more of those snowflake hot mats. My daughter Carrie enjoys snowflake-themed items and the blue one was a gift for her. I'm thinking I ought to make one (maybe red) for myself!

    1. Aw, thanks, Arlene! It was fun to make, although if I remember right, it took me days to find the bits and pieces of time to work on it.

  5. You are so talented with all the lovely handmade things you have made! Love the skate you made, and the skating embroidered piece. A pillow would be lovely I think! And that tea shelf is one I've seen before and loved. So creative! Hugs to you today :)

    1. Oh, thank you, Marilyn! I am just one of those people who loves to make things. I only wish I had more time to do so!

Yes, I think a pillow is probably the best project to make with the snow scene embroidery.

Thanks for your sweet comments today, and hugs to you as well, dear friend!

  6. Your home is so full of wintry goodness. Who says a home has to be bare and stark after Christmas. Your winter things refute that idea. Love the way your teas are all displayed on the wall. My son would be so jealous. He is always buying tea boxes.

    1. Thank you, Mary! I just can't face a bare, stark home through the winter. I must have light and sparkle!

My hubby built that tea rack after too many years of having tea boxes topple out of a cabinet! The boxes are so pretty, the rack does make a nice display in addition to being a practical storage solution.
