A bit of fall decorating

I've done very little fall decorating this year.  Life is so busy that I seem to have very little heart for doing anything extra, I guess.  But seasonal decorating makes me happy, so I have taken time to do a little bit of it.

Here are just a few pictures of my hutch and table.  I do apologize for the faded look of these photos, which were taken with my tablet.

This shows the entire middle shelf.  I recently purchased the Autumn in the Country book from  ThriftBooks.com for very little money -- under $4, if I remember right.  It's in great shape.  I bought the Amazing Grace sign from a friend's craft booth in August.  Love it!
Above are several pieces of my treasured black and white ironstone -- it's Ashworth Brothers Aesthetic Black -- plus a few other fallish odds and ends.
Two of my favorite fall mugs with my jadeite plates and "Thankful" sign are above, along with a little maple leaf pitcher and green and yellow birds.

I have a faded gold cloth (vintage) in the center of my table with a cream doily and pumpkin spice candle.  A sprig of dried hydrangea from a summer bouquet someone gave me, and the "watercolor" leaf I found at The Wilds of New England in September.
Hope you've enjoyed this simple look at my very simple fall decorating.

  1. A little seasonal decorating always brightens my mood. I must give myself permission to go slowly and not to set expectations I can’t meet. Hope that things settle for you soon.

    1. Thanks, Vee! I think that the process is going to take time because there is quite a bit of land involved, not to mention the contents of the house to dispose of.

Yes, I'm with you, seasonal decorating brightens my mood as well if I can just make mysolf take time to do it.

  3. I think it all looks wonderful. I know what you mean about being busy these days. I thought things would slow down, but they haven't as of yet. I am trying to keep my wits about it though.

    1. Well, thank you, Sandy! That is very kind of you. I am hoping, really hoping, that things will slow down here once the bulk of the estate work is done. And yes, trying to keep my wits about it too!

  4. I like what you've done. I too enjoy decorating as the seasons change. I do much less than I used to but I'll think about taking some photos to share.

  5. I have that same cookbook and love it!

I do different things each year, sometimes more, sometimes less. Simple is what I have this year, and I'm happy with that!

    1. Yes, I have very simple this year, but it's good. Far better than nothing.

I've wanted that cookbook for awhile and finally thought to look at Thrift Books. Love it!

  6. I cut back on my fall decor this year but I was pleased when Elliott commented on my Jack o Lanterns. I do it mainly for my grands anyway. All right, that is an outright fib...I enjoy it too. I always envy your pretty hutch...love the fall touches.

    1. Thanks, Arlene! I do it for me as well, but there was a moment probably five or six years ago when a young granddaughter stood before my hutch and said quietly, "I love this." For that reason, if for no other, I'll keep changing my hutch decor for the seasons!
