Happenings at our house

Nothing says "Summer!" like daisies in a Mason jar!
There's a lot going on here, but we're counting our blessings.  A lightning strike at our house Wednesday night knocked out our phones, internet, power, water, and even my husband's cell phone, which had been plugged in and charging at the time of the strike.  We got our power back yesterday afternoon, and got the internet and phone back this afternoon, but the problem with the water continues.  Fortunately, Mr. T had these 2 days off and has been working diligently to correct the problems, but we are not out of the woods yet.  I'm sure he would definitely appreciate your prayers for wisdom.  He thought the problem was the pump, so replaced that.  The replacement was a used pump and not working too well, so he got a new one.  He was fortunate to find a suitable pump on clearance at Sears for a great price.  Now he has installed that and it's not working either.  Next step:  checking the artesian well for  problems there.  I just helped him pull the pipes out of it, so we'll see where it goes from here!

I do have many more posts in the works (recipes, especially) and will share them as soon as I can.  Just wanted to share this much and let everyone know where I've been!

  1. Mrs T,
What a lot of excitement you have had. I will be praying that your husband is able to figure out the problem and without much more cost. We have had days like that. Makes us thankful for the days that we have without those added "trials". Do keep us posted on how it all goes. Until then we will keep praying.

  2. Thanks so much for your prayers, Nikki and family! They have been answered. We finally got everything up and running last evening around 6:30 or so. There is plenty of bottled or local spring water in our future, but we are thankful to have running water once again!

  3. I only heard part of the story on Sunday. Wow, sounds like you had quite a week.

When we lost power, Brandon was very worried about his mother for some reason and wanted to call her. Of course being accustomed to cell phones it was hard for him to understand why the phone wouldn't work. Well, cell phones won't work here either.

I'm glad that Mr. T was able to get the water working again. Even if you can't drink it, it is so hard being without water.

Hope all is back up and running well now and that you don't find any other odd things the lightning might have damaged.

  4. Poor Brandon. We do keep at least one older corded phone (in our bedroom) so it always works even when the power goes out. But not this time ... the phone lines were damaged too. What an experience!

Yes, everything seems as if it's back up and running again now. We replaced our one phone on Sunday and so it was working again as of yesterday after charging up overnight. Oh well, life is never boring, and there is much to be thankful for!
