Friday five

Just jumping in for a quick Friday five!

1.  Reaching a new milestone in our walking goals this week.  It was pretty exciting to conquer a super-steep hill two days this week.  The photo below is from our walking route, a couple of autumns ago.

2.  Having mild enough temperatures last night to be able to stay at our little camp.  Our daughter and some of the kiddos came over for an hour or so and it was such a joy to have them.  Photo below is not from last night, but it could have been.  Vacuum cleaner and all.

3.  A hospitable daughter and capable son-in-law who helped us out early this morning when one of our brand-new tires went flat at the bottom of their driveway (we were headed from our camp to the grocery store, then home, when this untimely event took place).  Jim is at left below in this photo from Columbus Day.  So thankful for him.

4.  A phone chat this morning with a friend I haven't seen in months.  It was a blessing to catch up a little bit!

5.  Getting to spend a little time at my crafting desk as the snow swirls outside the dormer window.  I'm making one of these

-- only the name will be Rosemary.  I have already made the "Happy Birthday" part and the families have them, but add a separate name banner for each new child.  Rosemary will turn 1 in a couple of weeks!

And there you have it.  So thankful for God's many blessings this week!

  1. Oh, I LOVE that birthday banner idea! How wonderful to have one for each child! Very very special indeed! Sorry about the flat tire, but so wonderful to have strong helpers right there handy! God is good! I am glad you were able to spend some time at the camp still. Wonderful memories being made. I am so happy for you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving next week!!!

    1. The birthday banners take a bit of work, but they are indeed family heirlooms and add such festive tradition to a birthday.

Yes, so happy that Jim and Carrie were awake and that he is so handy and had nearly everything needed to repair the tire.

We too are thankful for time spent at the camp. The days/nights there are numbered as the weather gets colder. With no insulation in the smaller rooms, our water supply and other liquids will freeze, so soon we will need to close things up there for the winter. Not looking forward to it.

You have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well!

  2. Always nice to have help getting out of a pinch. That swirling snow was something yesterday. Squalls are always fussy frenetic things. I was glad that it was not here to stay. Looks as if you have projects to keep you busy. A blessed weekend to you.

    1. Yes, it was such a blessing that Jim could help us out, and while he and Steve worked on it Carrie welcomed me into her cozy kitchen.

Playing at my crafting desk while snow swirls outside is always pure joy for me. But like you, I am glad that it didn't accumulate or stay.

Always more than enough projects to keep me busy! I have neglected my house during "camp season" and I also have a lot of baking to do for a fellowship dinner at church tomorrow.

A blessed weekend to you as well!
