Challenge update...

Just a note to say I haven't done much of anything with any of my challenges the past few days. A nasty cold has really hit me hard, and I haven't felt like doing much. I did complete a couple of handmade birthday gifts and got a really good start on a third one, and I think I have completed all I want to for the March decorating challenge as well. And that's about it! We have company coming on Sunday -- sure hope to be feeling better by then.

  2. Hello,
My name is Rachel (Reno) Feehan and I currently reside in Williston, VT. I read that you are a New Englander also. I have lived all 31 years of my life here but will be moving to Knoxville, TN in less than a month. God is leading us in a very direct way to the deep south. Never say never:)
I hope that you don't mind me reading through your blog. It has been a tremendous blessing to me. I have been praying that the Lord would show me ways to better minister to my husband and 18 month old son and you have unknowingly given me encouragement and great ideas. I love your recipes, your frugality tips, your cleaning challenges and the spiritual nuggets you write down.
I read one of your posts back from Aug. 2006 and I am seriously considering purchasing some of the cookbooks you mentioned - I can always do better with saving money on my groceries.
If it makes you uncomfortable to have a stranger reading your blog, I will refrain from doing so. I just wanted to let you know what a blessing and challenge you have been to me . God bless you. I will pray that you lick this cold before your company arrives. It is no fun to be ill while trying to entertain.
    Sincerely,
    Rachel Feehan

  3. Hi Rachel and Susan!

Thanks for your prayers and good wishes. I don't get sick very often, but this cold has hit me hard. I need to teach SS tomorrow, plus we have guests coming -- they 'll meet up with us at church. They are friends from far away who are just in New England for a very brief stay, so it's not anything we can reschedule. I need to get motivated to get up and finish the cleaning that still needs doing. It's basically just dusting and vacuuming -- and I'll change the sheets tomorrow morning.

Rachel, thank you so much for the encouragement. I am glad my blog has been a blessing to you, and even an answer to prayer in some ways. What is really neat is that even when you move to Knoxville, you can still visit New England via other people's blogs! I'm so happy you stopped by my kitchen table!

    Please come again!

    God bless you both,
    Mrs.T

  4. Hello again,
Thank you for your kind response. That is so neat that you know the Cunninghams. Missionary Cunningham was my eight grade teacher and Deb and I really got to know each other while we were both at BJU together. They just returned to England this past Monday. I will miss them as they are such a blessing and testimony to me. Trinity is their sending church and we love them so very much.
Thank you for allowing me to continue to read your blog. I realize that their is a lot of wisdom to be gained from godly women who have raised their families and done things God's way. I am thankful for my godly parents and their consistent walk with Christ. What a blessing and privilege it has been for me to grow up in a home that put Christ first. My husband and I desire to raise our son to be a man after God's own heart. We are already praying for his salvation as we cannot force him to make this eternal decision. Parenting is hard work but I don't need to tell a veteran of raising 5 children.:) My parents raised 4 girls (I am the oldest) which was quite interesting at times for them. Praise God that we have all married godly men and are serving the Lord. Enough rambling for now. I will continue to pray that God will give you His grace to get through your busy weekend.
    Sincerely,
    Rachel

  6. Hi Rachel and Patty,

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and prayers.

I am feeling a little bit better right at the moment. Sometimes we just have to give in and admit that we need a rest. Yesterday my husband and daughter both strongly urged me to stay home from church this morning, and I realized it was really the only choice. Hubby made a couple of phone calls last night and got things taken care of for my Sunday School class and nursery duty.

I went back to bed (in the guest room, as we we're giving our guests the master bedroom) after he left for Sunday School, and slept until 10:30! Now I'm up doing a couple of things and then I will probably go rest again until Mr. T arrives home with our friends and some Chinese take-out for lunch!

    God bless,
    Mrs.T
