Vintage A&P coffee ad from my collection |
Today was one of those busy days where I was out of the house a lot. I did our grocery shopping plus my dad's in the morning, came home, put ingredients in the slow cooker and worked on my Sunday School lesson for a bit, and then headed out again to take my dad to a dental appointment in the afternoon. Came home and finished my Sunday School lesson and then put finishing touches on my dad's supper. Mr. T is delivering it as I write. Busy day!
In the midst of the busyness I found a little oasis of calm. The dental office where my dad goes has a really nice thing they do for people who are waiting, as I was, for patients seeing the dentist. They offer them coffee! Really! They ask if you'd like coffee, then you choose your little K-cup and in a few minutes they bring your brewed coffee on a little tray, in a lidded mug, with a little pitcher of cream. So there I sat, sipping Green Mountain Mocha Fudge coffee and working on a cross-stitched gift. Quietness! Serenity! Coffee! I don't take such things lightly. I truly thank the Lord for the blessing of those moments. And I thanked the receptionist, too.
What a blessing to have a quiet moment with some coffee! I call those things "hugs from God" because He knows just how much we need a little something like that every now and then. I'm so glad you got to have that in the middle of your busy day!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about being a homebody...I am the same way. So glad you had a moment to sit, sip and stitch.
ReplyDeleteI like your term "hugs from God". Perfect! He knew I needed a hug today!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice little added touch to offer coffee. I stopped drinking coffee when I found out that we were expecting our last little one but I woke up this morning really wanting some. Something about the cooler days does it I think? I LOVE how we can enjoy those quiet moments in our day too. Home is my FAVORITE place to be as well. :) I often tell my husband that though some people desire going away for a night, staying at hotels etc. I just prefer my own bed and my own house. :)It is far from perfect but it is HOME and I LOVE it here.
ReplyDeleteArlene -- Sorry, I didn't realize you had commented when I replied only to Susan. I get the comments via email and sometimes, for whatever reason, they only come through a different email account that I have. Thanks for your sweet comment about sitting, sipping and stitching!
ReplyDeleteNikki -- hope you did enjoy a nice cup of coffee this morning since you woke up wanting some. Our coffee maker (just a $15 cheapie from Wal*Mart) is programmable so I set it the night before to come on at 4:45 and we wake up to a lovely aroma.
I agree, I will take those quiet moments anytime and anyplace. Sometimes life can get so hectic, I love how God will give us a respite when we need it. I do enjoy traveling and getaways with my hubby, but on a daily basis, I love home the best. I'm not much of a gadabout!
